Blue Whale Skeleton Returns Home

After nearly nine months of absence, Santa Barbara’s iconic Blue Whale returns home. Residents and visitors alike will welcome the 7,700 pound skeleton of this sea giant to the Museum of Natural History where it will rest once again, this time, with a new face lift.

The installation process is expected to take about ten days, and the public is invited to attend the museum each day to watch this team of experts reassemble the skeleton. Watch the full report here.

  1. Great story, Oscar. It really makes me wonder what other great finds in Santa Barbara there are to see. The restoration project of the whale will really spark curiosity and interest for future generations to enjoy.
