“Lunch Date” Review

Lunch DateEveryone has a half in life…this is the quote that sets the entire premise of this short film. Writer and Director, Sasha Collington, manages to capture the basic nature of every human, that no one wants to feel alone. After Annabel (Sasha Collington) gets the heartbreaking news that her boyfriend no longer wishes to be with her, fromDSC_1081 none other than by his half brother Wilbur (Alexis de Vivenot), Annabel begins to wonder whether she is destined to wander this world alone as “the random half.” After a brief, lovely and comforting lunch with 14-year old Wilbur, Annabel begins to see the bigger picture in the scheme of things and that really comforts her. The film ends with a hopeful future and friendship for both Annabel and Wilbur.

“Lunch Date” is a smart, witty, light English comedy that is comparable to the great Hollywood romantic movies like Pretty Woman. The film was shot in England and counted on a full size crew. The photography is aided by the fact “Lunch Date” was shot with a Digital SLR camera and simply makes the photography look amazing.

“Lunch Date” premieres at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival tonight. Check out the SBIFF schedule for show times.
