Lompoc’s Wicked Shamrock Houses Local Band

The Wicked Shamrock is a Lompoc favorite when it comes to music and drinks, and last night it set the stage for Rootwise, a local Reggae band.

Rootwise was formed four years ago, a dream turned into a real life creation of the Padilla brothers, Julio (Keyboard)and Andres Padilla (electric guitar). Together with their father, Andy Padilla (drums), and their friend Leland Miller (bass), Rootwise has become to represent true music from the heart that is tenacious, soulful, and passionate. Move over cover bands! Rootwise prides itself in creating and performing original songs.

One of the most interesting and impressing things to notice about this band is the fact that they play some of the best Reggae music around without the aide of a music sheet. In fact, some of the band members have confessed they cannot even read musical notes. Their music comes purely from their hearts, their minds, and of course, hours spent rehearsing.

With a mix of Roots Reggae, Latino flavor, and Hip Hop influences, Rootwise had a chance to showcase their talents and music at The Wicked Shamrock when they opened for the band Natural Incense. The crowd seemed to love the performance as many of them made their way to the dance floor. “It felt fulfilling and great! A good emotion,” said keyboardist Julio Padilla. With applause and cheers, Rootwise finished their 45 minute set. Keep your ears open as I am sure we will be hearing more about this band in the near future.
